Owner and Head Engineer
With over 20 years of dedicated experience spanning elite military operations and advanced commercial engineering, Matthew Wells brings a unique level of precision and trust to the digital solutions and security sector.
Matthew served for a decade in the British Army’s Royal Signals as a Communications Systems Operator. During his military career, he was trusted to deliver high-readiness, secure satellite, network, and radio systems for UK Government departments and operational environments globally, including deployments to Afghanistan.
Following his military service, Matthew spent years in the commercial sector as a senior service engineer, transferring and improving skills in structured cabling, networking, fiber optics, smart TV systems (including SkyQ and BT Sport), advanced AV installations CCTV and security for major commercial clients, hotels, and social housing providers across the South West.
Today, Matthew combines his deep technical expertise with the core military values of integrity, discipline, and commitment. Whether designing a robust commercial CCTV network, installing high-end media systems, or managing large-scale IT infrastructure, he ensures every project is delivered with absolute precision and to the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Joshua Sloane with 6 years of hands-on experience, our Senior Engineer is the technical powerhouse behind West Co Smart’s premium installations.
